My day with Ms. Ella

I spent some time hanging out with Ella last week and got to see what her favorite things to do are.  The two main things: reading & “cooking” .  She made me some yummy plastic food and read some books, and showed me her new bedroom.  She is going to have a baby sister soon so she got upgraded to a big girl room just in time for her 2nd birthday.  Here are a few of my favorites!

Adkins Family

I haven’t posted nearly enough photos of my (Darrell’s) nieces – Hayden & Mckenna – on here, mostly because I do a lot of casual shots of them playing and being cute more than formal sessions.  But a couple of weeks ago they all came up to visit so we planned to do our first family photo session.  First we took a trip to a local pumpkin patch to choose our halloween pumpkins, so I took some of my usual playing photos before we went back home for the real portraits.  After the babies went to sleep the adults had our second annual pumpkin carving contest.  Of course Darrell won, we all knew that would happen.  He’s really the only artist out of all of us.  I’m only good with a camera, give me some markers or pencils and I’m hopeless :)

Granma & Grandpa

Mckenna loved the slide, Hayden, not so much.

She’s quite the ham, but oh so cute!

Darrell won with his “Deer in the woods” pumpkin (far left).  I lost with my yellow hillbilly girl :(

Justin & Katherine {Portraits}

Wedding season is in full swing, and to celebrate I thought I would share something a little different.  I do occasionally shoot portrait sessions and love doing so, so when Justin & Katherine  who’s wedding I shot back in 2008 wanted me to shoot some pics of them before their little girl comes, I was super excited.  I loved it so much that I am currently working on putting up a portrait gallery on my website so I can do more of them.  So if any of my past brides and grooms wants to do a pre-baby or post baby photo shoot let me know!

We got together last month, and yes, it was snowing.  A freak storm, and it was not warm by any means.  But we fought through and ended up with some really sweet photos.  The thing that I love about shooting Justin & Katherine, is how comfortable they are with each other, and in front of the camera.  You can just see how much they adore each other every time they look at each other.  Makes my job super easy!

To give you a recap of their awesome wedding, I have a few flashback pics of them way back then.  I LOVED everything about their wedding from the cliff overlooking Lake Michigan, to the amazing sunset, to all the photographers they had as guests who helped me with my lights :)  Justin is also a photographer so I was a little nervous, but we all loved the way they turned out and I’m sure you will see why…..
