This past weekend Sean and Maggie tied the knot in downtown Detroit. The day started at the Westin Book Cadillac, which is a perfect place to get ready and we even take a few portraits of Maggie while we waited for the trolly. They had their ceremony at Peter & Paul Jesuit Church, which was amazing and had a lot of natural light, so it was this photographers dream. The Priest that did the ceremony was really funny and even had a lot of crowd participation. After the ceremony we took the Trolly around Detroit for a few photo ops and happened upon the most beautiful abandoned building to jump out and get some bridal party pics. I could have stayed there all day, but we had a reception to get to. Finally we headed to the Colony Club, which is an amazing restored space. There wasn’t need for many details because the room is so grand in itself, so the simple touches Maggie picked out were perfect. She had some help from Misty at Bells & Bliss. Maggie & Sean and their families were so much fun to hang out with. We got along really well, and Sean and I bonded on our ideas of what a wedding day is supposed to be. We took photos in a lot of places and by the time we got to the reception, he was done and ready to enjoy himself. At one point he said “This day is not about photography”. He got a serious high five from me because couples (brides mostly :-p ) get caught up in getting A LOT of photos of them and the bridal party, that it can take away from the experience of the day. You only need a few really good pics, and it can be accomplished in an hour, so get what you need and go enjoy yourself! Maggie was totally fine with that so we snapped a quick photo on the staircase not the way to cocktail hour, and I let them start the party! Thanks for letting us spend the day with you, I hope you enjoy the pics!!
